11 | 11 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

12 | 12 | | SECTION 1. Section 157.9015, Local Government Code, is |
---|
13 | 13 | | amended by adding Subsection (d) to read as follows: |
---|
14 | 14 | | (d) This subsection applies only to a county with a |
---|
15 | 15 | | population of more than one million. If a district or county |
---|
16 | 16 | | attorney declines to represent a county official or employee in a |
---|
17 | 17 | | suit described by Subsection (c), the county official or employee |
---|
18 | 18 | | may request representation from the attorney general, and the |
---|
19 | 19 | | attorney general may offer to represent the county official or |
---|
20 | 20 | | employee. |
---|
21 | 21 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
---|
22 | 22 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
---|
23 | 23 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
---|
24 | 24 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
---|
25 | 25 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
