| 8 | 8 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 9 | 9 | | SECTION 1. Section 301.157, Occupations Code, is amended by |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | adding Subsection (b-2) to read as follows: |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | (b-2) The programs of study prescribed by the board under |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Subsections (a) and (b) must include a requirement that a student in |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | the program complete a minimum number of clinical hours at a |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | long-term care facility as defined by Section 255.001, Health and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Safety Code, including a tour of a long-term care facility. |

| 16 | 16 | | SECTION 2. Not later than December 1, 2023, the Texas Board |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | of Nursing shall adopt rules as necessary to implement Section |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | 301.157(b-2), Occupations Code, as added by this Act. |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
