66 AN ACT
77 relating to incentives for the film, television, video, and digital
88 interactive media production industries.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 485.024(a), Government Code, is amended
1111 to read as follows:
1212 (a) Except as provided by Section 485.025, a grant under
1313 this subchapter may not be less than 27.5 percent of the total
1414 amount of the production company's in-state spending for the moving
1515 image project [exceed the amount established by office rule]. The
1616 office shall adopt rules prescribing the method the office will use
1717 to calculate the amount of a grant under this subsection. The
1818 office shall publish a written summary of the method for
1919 determining grants before awarding a grant under this section. The
2020 method must consider at a minimum:
2121 (1) the current and likely future effect a moving
2222 image project will have on employment, tourism, and economic
2323 activity in this state; and
2424 (2) the amount of a production company's in-state
2525 spending for a moving image project.
2626 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
