9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Section 485.024(a), Government Code, is amended |
---|
11 | 11 | | to read as follows: |
---|
12 | 12 | | (a) Except as provided by Section 485.025, a grant under |
---|
13 | 13 | | this subchapter may not be less than 27.5 percent of the total |
---|
14 | 14 | | amount of the production company's in-state spending for the moving |
---|
15 | 15 | | image project [exceed the amount established by office rule]. The |
---|
16 | 16 | | office shall adopt rules prescribing the method the office will use |
---|
17 | 17 | | to calculate the amount of a grant under this subsection. The |
---|
18 | 18 | | office shall publish a written summary of the method for |
---|
19 | 19 | | determining grants before awarding a grant under this section. The |
---|
20 | 20 | | method must consider at a minimum: |
---|
21 | 21 | | (1) the current and likely future effect a moving |
---|
22 | 22 | | image project will have on employment, tourism, and economic |
---|
23 | 23 | | activity in this state; and |
---|
24 | 24 | | (2) the amount of a production company's in-state |
---|
25 | 25 | | spending for a moving image project. |
---|
26 | 26 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
