|---|
| 10 | 10 | | information law. |

| 11 | 11 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 12 | 12 | | SECTION 1. Section 552.261(e), Government Code, is amended |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | to read as follows: |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | (e) Except as otherwise provided by this subsection, all |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | requests received in one calendar day from an individual may be |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | treated as a single request for purposes of calculating costs under |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | this chapter. A governmental body may [not] combine multiple |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | requests under this subsection from separate individuals who submit |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | requests on behalf of an organization. |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | SECTION 2. The changes in law made by this Act to Section |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | 552.261(e), Government Code, apply only to a request for |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | information that is received by a governmental body or an officer or |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | employee of a governmental body on or after the effective date of |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | this Act. A request for information that was received before the |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | effective date of this Act is governed by the law in effect on the |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | date the request was received, and the former law is continued in |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | effect for that purpose. |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
