| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 106, Education Code, is |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | amended by adding Section 106.315 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Sec. 106.315. BOARD OVERSIGHT OF SCHOOL OF LAW. (a) In |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | this section, "administrator" has the meaning assigned by Section |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | 51.948. |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | (b) The board shall directly oversee the general management |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | of the Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | University. |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | (c) Notwithstanding any other law or policy, each |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | administrator of the Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Southern University shall report directly to the board as necessary |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | or appropriate regarding any matter under the board's authority or |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | control, in lieu of making a report to the president of the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | university. |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
