88 relating to the eligibility of certain cricket events for funding
99 under the major events reimbursement program.
1010 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Section 478.0001(3), Government Code, as amended
1212 by Chapters 10 (H.B. 1472), 102 (S.B. 1265), 605 (S.B. 1155), and
1313 915 (H.B. 3607), Acts of the 87th Legislature, Regular Session,
1414 2021, is reenacted and amended to read as follows:
1515 (3) "Event" means any of the following and includes
1616 any activity related to or associated with the following:
1717 (A) the Academy of Country Music Awards;
1818 (B) the Amateur Athletic Union Junior Olympic
1919 Games;
2020 (C) a Big 12 Football Conference Championship
2121 game;
2222 (D) the Breeders' Cup World Championships;
2323 (E) a game of the College Football Playoff or its
2424 successor;
2525 (F) the Confederation of North, Central America
2626 and Caribbean Association Football (Concacaf) Gold Cup;
2727 (G) [(F)] a CONVRG conference;
2828 (H) [(G)] an Elite Rodeo Association World
2929 Championship;
3030 (I) [(H)] a Formula One automobile race;
3131 (J) [(I)] the largest event held each year at a
3232 sports entertainment venue in this state with a permanent seating
3333 capacity, including grandstand and premium seating, of at least
3434 125,000 on September 1, 2021;
3535 (K) [(J)] the Major League Baseball All-Star
3636 Game;
3737 (L) [(K)] the Major League Soccer All-Star Game
3838 or the Major League Soccer Cup;
3939 (M) [(L)] a mixed martial arts championship;
4040 (N) [(M)] the Moto Grand Prix of the United
4141 States;
4242 (O) [(N)] the National Association for Stock Car
4343 Auto Racing (NASCAR):
4444 (i) All-Star Race;
4545 (ii) season-ending Championship Race; or

7272 debate;

7474 Association National Finals Rodeo;
7575 (BB) a single cricket match or competition or a
7676 series of cricket matches or competitions sanctioned by:
7777 (i) the International Cricket Council,
7878 including the T20 World Cup;
7979 (ii) Major League Cricket; or
8080 (iii) USA Cricket;
8181 (CC) [(Z)] a Super Bowl;
8282 (DD) [(AA)] the United States Open Championship;
8383 (EE) [(BB)] a World Cup soccer game or the World
8484 Cup soccer tournament;
8585 (FF) [(CC)] the World Games;
8686 (GG) [(DD)] a World Wrestling Entertainment
8787 WrestleMania event; or
8888 (HH) [(EE)] the X Games.
8989 SECTION 2. Section 478.0001(7), Government Code, as amended
9090 by Chapters 10 (H.B. 1472), 102 (S.B. 1265), and 915 (H.B. 3607),

9393 (7) "Site selection organization" means:

142142 SECTION 3. Section 478.0051, Government Code, is amended by
143143 adding Subsection (c) to read as follows:
144144 (c) Notwithstanding Subsection (b), an event described by
145145 Section 478.0001(3)(BB) may receive funding through the program if:
146146 (1) a portion of the event is held at one or more sites
147147 located in another state or country; or
148148 (2) the event is held more than one time in any year.
149149 SECTION 4. To the extent of any conflict, this Act prevails
150150 over another Act of the 88th Legislature, Regular Session, 2023,
151151 relating to nonsubstantive additions to and corrections in enacted
152152 codes.
153153 SECTION 5. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
