| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Section 1, Chapter 70 (H.B. 800), Acts of the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | 60th Legislature, Regular Session, 1967, is amended to read as |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | follows: |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Section 1. The Parks and Wildlife Department of the State of |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Texas is hereby authorized to convey or transfer and the Board of |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Regents of The University of Texas System is hereby authorized to |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | accept for and on behalf of The University of Texas M.D. Anderson |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Hospital and Tumor Institute any part or all of that certain |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | described land in Bastrop County, Texas, conveyed to the Parks and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Wildlife Department of the State of Texas by the City of Smithville, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Texas, and Mrs. Elizabeth Buescher, et al, by deeds dated April 30, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | 1936, and September 15, 1933, respectively, and which are recorded |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | in Volume 97, page 40, and Volume 96, pages 595-6, of the Deed |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Records of Bastrop County, Texas, to which deeds and the record |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | thereof reference is made for all purposes, said land to be used by |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | The University of Texas System for any purpose consistent with the |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | mission of the system or a component institution of the system [as a |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | science park and for research purposes]. |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
