| 7 | 7 | | relating to the Medicaid eligibility of certain women following a |

| 8 | 8 | | pregnancy. |

| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Section 32.024(l-1), Human Resources Code, is |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | (l-1) The commission shall continue to provide medical |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | assistance to a woman who is eligible for medical assistance for |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | pregnant women for a period of not less than 12 [six] months |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | following the last month of the woman's pregnancy [date the woman |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | delivers or experiences an involuntary miscarriage]. |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | SECTION 2. If before implementing any provision of this Act |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | a state agency determines that a waiver or authorization from a |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | federal agency is necessary for implementation of that provision, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | the agency affected by the provision shall request the waiver or |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | authorization and may delay implementing that provision until the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | waiver or authorization is granted. |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
