| 7 | 7 | | relating to a one-time cash payment to certain residents of this |

| 8 | 8 | | state. |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. (a) The comptroller of public accounts of the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | State of Texas shall make a one-time payment to each resident of |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | this state to whom the Department of Public Safety of the State of |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Texas has issued a form of identification, as provided by this |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | section. |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | (b) The Department of Public Safety of the State of Texas |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | shall provide the comptroller of public accounts of the State of |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Texas with a list of the names and addresses of each individual who |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | holds a current form of identification issued by that department as |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | shown by that department's records. |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | (c) The comptroller of public accounts of the State of Texas |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | shall issue a single payment of $500 to each individual identified |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | on the list provided under Subsection (b) of this section and whose |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | listed address is in this state. |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | SECTION 2. An amount, estimated not to exceed $15 billion, |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | is appropriated from the economic stabilization fund to the |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | comptroller of public accounts of the State of Texas for the state |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | fiscal biennium beginning September 1, 2023, to provide the |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | payments required by Section 1 of this Act and to pay costs incurred |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | by the comptroller and by the Department of Public Safety of the |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | State of Texas in facilitating the payments. |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
