77 relating to the composition of the Homeland Security Council.
88 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
99 SECTION 1. Section 421.021(a), Government Code, as amended
1010 by Chapters 93 (S.B. 686), 616 (S.B. 1393), and 1217 (S.B. 1536),
1111 Acts of the 83rd Legislature, Regular Session, 2013, is reenacted
1212 and amended to read as follows:
1313 (a) The Homeland Security Council is composed of the
1414 governor or the governor's designee, the speaker of the house of
1515 representatives or the speaker's designee, the lieutenant governor
1616 or the lieutenant governor's designee, and one representative of
1717 each of the following entities, appointed by the single statewide
1818 elected or appointed governing officer, administrative head, or
1919 chair, as appropriate, of the entity:
2020 (1) Department of Agriculture;
2121 (2) office of the attorney general;
2222 (3) General Land Office;
2323 (4) Public Utility Commission of Texas;
2424 (5) Department of State Health Services;
2525 (6) Department of Information Resources;
2626 (7) Department of Public Safety of the State of Texas;
2727 (8) Texas Division of Emergency Management;
2828 (9) Texas Military Department;
2929 (10) Texas Commission on Environmental Quality;
3030 (11) Railroad Commission of Texas;
3131 (12) Texas Military Preparedness Commission;
3232 (13) Texas Department of Transportation;
3333 (14) Commission on State Emergency Communications;
3434 (15) Office of State-Federal Relations;
3535 (16) secretary of state;
3636 (17) the committee of the senate having jurisdiction
3737 over veterans affairs [Senate Committee on Veterans Affairs and
3838 Military Installations];
3939 (18) [(17)] the committee of the senate having
4040 jurisdiction over homeland security [Senate Committee on
4141 Agriculture, Rural Affairs and Homeland Security];
4242 (19) the committee of the house of representatives
4343 having jurisdiction over veterans affairs [House Committee on
4444 Defense and Veterans' Affairs];
4545 (20) [(18)] the committee of the house of
4646 representatives having jurisdiction over homeland security [House
4747 Committee on Homeland Security and Public Safety];
4848 (21) Texas Animal Health Commission;
4949 (22) Texas Commission on Law Enforcement;

5656 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
