55 AN ACT
66 relating to creation of hike and bike corridors and authorizing

88 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
99 SECTION 1. Chapter 224, Subtitle B, Title 6, Transportation
1010 Code, is amended by adding Subchapter G to read as follows:
1111 SUBCHAPTER G. HIKE AND BIKE CORRIDORS
1212 Sec. 202.115. ESTABLISHMENT. The commission may acquire
1313 real property or an interest in real property or purchase an option
1414 to acquire real property for possible use in or in connection with
1515 the establishment of hike and bike corridors.
1616 Sec. 202.116 FUNDING. The commission may use federal
1717 funds, appropriated funds, local funds, or private funds to
1818 construct hike and bike corridors.
1919 Sec. 202.116 CORRIDORS. (a) HILL COUNTRY HIKE AND BIKE
2020 TRAIL. The commission may utilize powers granted by this
2121 subchapter or other chapters to plan and construct a hike and bike
2222 corridor along U.S. 290 in Blanco and Gillespie counties.
2323 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2424 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2525 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2626 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2727 Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
