| 8 | 8 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 9 | 9 | | SECTION 1. Chapter 224, Subtitle B, Title 6, Transportation |

| 10 | 10 | | Code, is amended by adding Subchapter G to read as follows: |

| 11 | 11 | | SUBCHAPTER G. HIKE AND BIKE CORRIDORS |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Sec. 202.115. ESTABLISHMENT. The commission may acquire |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | real property or an interest in real property or purchase an option |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | to acquire real property for possible use in or in connection with |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | the establishment of hike and bike corridors. |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Sec. 202.116 FUNDING. The commission may use federal |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | funds, appropriated funds, local funds, or private funds to |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | construct hike and bike corridors. |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Sec. 202.116 CORRIDORS. (a) HILL COUNTRY HIKE AND BIKE |

| 20 | 20 | | TRAIL. The commission may utilize powers granted by this |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | subchapter or other chapters to plan and construct a hike and bike |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | corridor along U.S. 290 in Blanco and Gillespie counties. |

| 23 | 23 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
