9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 28, Education Code, is |
---|
11 | 11 | | amended by adding Section 28.0028 to read as follows: |
---|
12 | 12 | | Sec. 28.0028. PARENTING AND PATERNITY AWARENESS PROGRAM |
---|
13 | 13 | | MARKETING PLAN. The commissioner shall develop a marketing plan |
---|
14 | 14 | | for the parenting and paternity awareness program developed by the |
---|
15 | 15 | | State Board of Education under Section 28.002(p) to ensure public |
---|
16 | 16 | | school students who are not enrolled in a health curriculum course |
---|
17 | 17 | | offered by a school district or open-enrollment charter school are |
---|
18 | 18 | | offered the program curriculum in other courses, including |
---|
19 | 19 | | mathematics, economics, psychology, or certain related elective |
---|
20 | 20 | | courses. The marketing plan must include a guide that demonstrates |
---|
21 | 21 | | the manner in which the district or school may incorporate the |
---|
22 | 22 | | program into different courses in grades 6 through 12. |
---|
23 | 23 | | SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2023-2024 |
---|
24 | 24 | | school year. |
---|
25 | 25 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
---|
26 | 26 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
---|
27 | 27 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
---|
28 | 28 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
---|
29 | 29 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
