55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to the period of time that a slaughterer must preserve the
88 records pertaining to the purchase or slaughter of certain
99 livestock.
1010 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Section 148.011(c), Agriculture Code, is amended
1212 to read as follows:
1313 (c) The record must be prepared and made available to the
1414 Texas Animal Health Commission and for public inspection within 24
1515 hours after the slaughterer receives the livestock. The
1616 slaughterer shall preserve the record for at least one year [two
1717 years] and shall keep the record open for public inspection at all
1818 reasonable hours.
1919 SECTION 2. Section 148.043(b), Agriculture Code, is amended
2020 to read as follows:
2121 (b) A slaughterer shall preserve the [keep] records under
2222 this section for at least one year and shall keep the record open
2323 for public inspection at reasonable hours.
2424 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
