66 relating to the expansion of the statewide program to prevent and
77 detect certain offenses.
88 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
99 SECTION 1. Section 411.02095(a)(1)(B), Government Code, is
1010 amended to read as follows:
1111 Sec. 411.02095. STATEWIDE PROGRAM FOR THE PREVENTION AND
1212 DETECTION OF CERTAIN CRIMINAL OFFENSES. (a) The department may
1313 establish a program throughout this state for preventing and
1414 detecting:
1515 (1) the unlawful possession or the unlawful and
1616 imminent movement or transfer between this state and an adjacent
1717 state or the United Mexican States of:
1818 (A) firearms, in violation of Section 46.14,
1919 Penal Code;
2020 (B) controlled substances, in violation of
2121 Chapter 481, Health and Safety Code or violations of Section
2222 801.251, Occupations Code; or
2323 (C) currency, in violation of Section 34.02,
2424 Penal Code; and
2525 (2) the commission or imminent commission of the
2626 offenses of smuggling of persons under Section 20.05, Penal Code,
2727 and trafficking of persons under Section 20A.02, Penal Code,
2828 occurring in this state or involving travel between this state and
2929 an adjacent state or the United Mexican States.
3030 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
