 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 AN ACT
 relating to delivery of certain statutory county court, district
 court, or appellate court orders.
 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 SECTION 1.  The heading to Chapter 80, Government Code, is
 amended to read as follows:
 CHAPTER 80. DELIVERY OF NOTICE, ORDERS, AND DOCUMENTS
 SECTION 2.  Section 80.001, Government Code, is amended to
 read as follows:
 Sec. 80.001.  DELIVERY OF NOTICE OR DOCUMENT.  A court,
 justice, judge, magistrate, or clerk may send any notice or
 document by a method authorized by Section 80.002(a) [80.002].
 SECTION 3.  Section 80.002, Government Code, is amended to
 read as follows:
 Sec. 80.002.  [AUTHORIZED] DELIVERY OF NOTICE, ORDER, OR
 DOCUMENT. (a) A court, justice, judge, magistrate, or clerk may
 send any notice or document using mail or electronic mail.  This
 subsection [section] applies to all civil and criminal statutes
 requiring delivery of a notice or document.
 (b)  In addition to any other delivery method required or
 authorized by law or supreme court rule, a statutory county court,
 district court, or appellate court shall deliver all orders entered
 by the court either:
 (1)  in person to each individual entitled to service;
 or
 (2)  to each individual entitled to service who elects
 electronic service through:
 (A)  electronic mail; or
 (B)  the electronic filing system established
 under Section 72.031 for a case in which the use of the electronic
 filing system is required or authorized.
 SECTION 4.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
