| 7 | 7 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 8 | 8 | | SECTION 1. Section 546.002(a), Transportation Code, is |

| 9 | 9 | | amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | (a) In this section, "police escort" means facilitating the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | movement of a funeral, oversized or hazardous load, or other |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | traffic disruption for public safety purposes by a peace officer |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | described by Articles 2.12(1)-(4), (8), (12), (17)(B), and (22), |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Code of Criminal Procedure. |

| 15 | 15 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
