10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Section 261.106(b), Family Code, is amended to | |
12 | 12 | read as follows: | |
13 | 13 | (b) Immunity from civil and criminal liability extends to an | |
14 | 14 | authorized volunteer or contractor of the department or a law | |
15 | 15 | enforcement officer who participates at the request of the | |
16 | 16 | department in an investigation of alleged or suspected abuse or | |
17 | 17 | neglect or in an action arising from an investigation if the person | |
18 | 18 | was acting in good faith and in the scope of the person's | |
19 | 19 | responsibilities. | |
20 | 20 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
