| 7 | 7 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 8 | 8 | | SECTION 1. Section 504.315(c), Transportation Code, is |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | (c) The department shall issue specialty license plates for |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | recipients of the Commendation Medal or Commendation Medal with |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Valor for each branch of the military and for joint |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | service. License plates issued under this subsection must include |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | the appropriate Commendation Medal emblem and must include the name |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | of the medal at the bottom of each plate. License plates issued |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | under this subsection to recipients of the Commendation Medal with |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Valor that are not personalized must also include the letter "V" as |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | a prefix or suffix to the numerals on each plate. |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | SECTION 2. Section 504.321, Transportation Code, is |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | repealed. |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
