55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to the duty of a court clerk to deliver notice of a change
88 in the address or telephone number of a person protected by a
99 protective order.
1010 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Section 87.004(b), Family Code, is amended to
1212 read as follows:
1313 (b) The clerk of the court shall attach the notification of
1414 change to the protective order and shall deliver a copy of the
1515 notification to:
1616 (1) the respondent by registered or certified mail as
1717 provided by Rule 21a, Texas Rules of Civil Procedure; and
1818 (2) any other person entitled to a copy of the order
1919 under Section 85.042.
2020 SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only
2121 to a notification of change of address or telephone number filed
2222 with the court on or after the effective date of this Act.
2323 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
