66 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
77 SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 434, Government Code, is
88 amended by adding Section 434.0241 to read as follows:
99 Sec. 434.0241. VETERANS SUICIDE PREVENTION CAMPAIGN. (a)
1010 The Texas Veterans Commission shall conduct a suicide prevention
1111 campaign to provide veterans with information regarding suicide
1212 prevention.
1313 (b) In conducting the suicide prevention campaign, the
1414 commission shall establish a dedicated Internet website to provide
1515 veterans with information regarding suicide prevention.
1616 (c) The commission shall collaborate with, and may contract
1717 with, community-based, nonprofit, or private organizations to
1818 conduct the suicide prevention campaign under this section.
1919 (d) The commission may solicit and accept gifts and grants
2020 for purposes of conducting the suicide prevention campaign under
2121 this section.
2222 SECTION 2. Not later than March 1, 2024, the Texas Veterans
2323 Commission shall:
2424 (1) establish the veterans suicide prevention
2525 campaign as required under Section 434.0241, Government Code, as
2626 added by this Act; and
2727 (2) adopt any rules necessary to implement the
2828 campaign.
2929 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023.
