| 6 | 6 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 7 | 7 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 434, Government Code, is |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | amended by adding Section 434.0241 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Sec. 434.0241. VETERANS SUICIDE PREVENTION CAMPAIGN. (a) |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | The Texas Veterans Commission shall conduct a suicide prevention |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | campaign to provide veterans with information regarding suicide |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | prevention. |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | (b) In conducting the suicide prevention campaign, the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | commission shall establish a dedicated Internet website to provide |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | veterans with information regarding suicide prevention. |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | (c) The commission shall collaborate with, and may contract |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | with, community-based, nonprofit, or private organizations to |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | conduct the suicide prevention campaign under this section. |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | (d) The commission may solicit and accept gifts and grants |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | for purposes of conducting the suicide prevention campaign under |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | this section. |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | SECTION 2. Not later than March 1, 2024, the Texas Veterans |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Commission shall: |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | (1) establish the veterans suicide prevention |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | campaign as required under Section 434.0241, Government Code, as |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | added by this Act; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | (2) adopt any rules necessary to implement the |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | campaign. |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
