| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter E, Chapter 504, Transportation Code, | |
| 11 | 11 | is amended by adding Section 504.417 to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | Sec. 504.417. COAST GUARD LIFESAVING MEDAL RECIPIENTS. The | |
| 13 | 13 | department shall issue specialty license plates for recipients of | |
| 14 | 14 | the Coast Guard Gold Lifesaving Medal and for recipients of the | |
| 15 | 15 | Coast Guard Silver Lifesaving Medal. License plates issued under | |
| 16 | 16 | this section must include, as applicable: | |
| 17 | 17 | (1) the Coast Guard Gold Lifesaving Medal emblem and | |
| 18 | 18 | the words "Coast Guard Gold Lifesaving Medal" at the bottom of each | |
| 19 | 19 | plate; or | |
| 20 | 20 | (2) the Coast Guard Silver Lifesaving Medal emblem and | |
| 21 | 21 | the words "Coast Guard Silver Lifesaving Medal" at the bottom of | |
| 22 | 22 | each plate. | |
| 23 | 23 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
