| 7 | 7 | | relating to a study by the Public Utility Commission of Texas on the |

| 8 | 8 | | interconnection of electric transmission service facilities with |

| 9 | 9 | | the United Mexican States. |

| 10 | 10 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 11 | 11 | | SECTION 1. (a) The Public Utility Commission of Texas shall |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | study: |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | (1) the impacts of existing interconnections of |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | electric transmission service facilities in this state with |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | electric transmission service facilities in the United Mexican |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | States, including impacts on transmission and distribution |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | networks and retail customers in this state and in the United |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Mexican States; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | (2) the potential impacts of establishing new |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | interconnections described by Subdivision (1), including impacts |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | on transmission and distribution networks and retail customers in |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | this state and in the United Mexican States. |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | (b) Not later than September 1, 2024, the Public Utility |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Commission of Texas shall submit a report on the results of the |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | study to the legislature. |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | (c) This Act expires December 31, 2024. |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
