| 7 | 7 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 8 | 8 | | SECTION 1. Chapter 157, Family Code, is amended by adding |

| 9 | 9 | | Subchapter K to read as follows: |

| 10 | 10 | | SUBCHAPTER K. LOCAL REGULATION AND ENFORCEMENT |

| 11 | 11 | | Sec. 157.551. CIVIL PENALTY FOR INTERFERENCE WITH CHILD |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | CUSTODY ORDER. A municipality or county in this state may adopt an |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | ordinance or order that imposes a civil penalty of not more than |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | $500 for engaging in conduct described by Section 25.03, Penal |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Code. |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
