8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Since joining the Midland Chamber of Commerce in |

9 | 10 | | March 2011, Mr. Burns has overseen its four-star accreditation with |

10 | 11 | | the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the creation of its Star Spangled |

11 | 12 | | Salute Independence Day celebration; he also assisted in the |

12 | 13 | | development of a number of important projects, including Loop 250, |
---|
13 | 14 | | the Scharbauer Sports Complex, and the new terminal at Midland |
---|
14 | 15 | | International Air and Space Port, and he played an instrumental |
---|
15 | 16 | | role in the establishment of the Barbara & George H. W. Bush |
---|
16 | 17 | | Convention Center; and |

17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, A resident of Midland for over 45 years, Mr. Burns |

18 | 19 | | has further served his community as chair of the Midland Planning |
---|
19 | 20 | | and Zoning Commission and as the city's mayor for three terms; |

20 | 21 | | moreover, he has led the Shepperd Leadership Institute as its |
---|
21 | 22 | | director, and he has worked as an insurance agent for more than |
---|
22 | 23 | | three and a half decades; and |

23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, A strong and dynamic leader, Bobby Burns has done |
---|
24 | 25 | | much to bring positive change to the Midland community, and his |
---|
25 | 26 | | efforts have produced results of lasting benefit to countless area |
---|
26 | 27 | | Texans; now, therefore, be it |

27 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the 88th Legislature of the State of Texas |

28 | 29 | | hereby commend Bobby Burns on his service as president and CEO of |

29 | 30 | | the Midland Chamber of Commerce and extend to him sincere best |
