| 8 | 8 | | Texans reach their full potential in their athletic endeavors and |

| 9 | 9 | | build a strong foundation for future success; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Coaches exert a positive influence on the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | development of young people and serve as role models during |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | students' formative years; in the course of their duties, these |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | educators teach fundamental life lessons and instill important |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | values such as discipline, integrity, respect, teamwork, and good |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | sportsmanship in young competitors; moreover, coaches help |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | establish and maintain the vibrant culture of high school sports, |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | which enriches the educational experience for all students and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | strengthens the school's connection to the wider community; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, The individuals who make up the state's secondary |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | school coaching ranks are supported by the Texas High School |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Coaches Association, an advocacy and leadership organization |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | focused on furthering education and professionalism among its |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | members; formally organized in 1930 as the Texas High School |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Football Coaches Association, the group sponsored the first |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | coaching school in San Antonio three years later; it assumed its |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | current name in 1941 after opening its doors to coaches in all |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | University Interscholastic League sports; in the decades since, |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | THSCA has grown to more than 25,000 members, making it one of the |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | largest organizations of its kind in the world; and |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Playing an integral role in secondary education, the |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | high school coaches of the Lone Star State are truly deserving of |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | recognition for the positive guidance they provide to students and |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | for furthering the state's proud tradition of athletic excellence; |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | now, therefore, be it |

| 35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the 88th Legislature of the State of Texas |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | hereby designate April 6 as Texas High School Coaches Day and |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | commend all those associated with the Texas High School Coaches |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | Association for their dedicated efforts; and, be it further |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | RESOLVED, That, in accordance with the provisions of Section |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | 391.004(d), Government Code, this designation remain in effect |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | until the 10th anniversary of the date this resolution is finally |
|---|
| 42 | 42 | | passed by the legislature. |
