 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
 WHEREAS, The Midland High School football team is receiving
 the Innovation in Volunteerism Award as part of the 39th annual
 Governor's Volunteer Awards; and
 WHEREAS, Presented in conjunction with the OneStar
 Foundation, the Governor's Volunteer Awards pay tribute to the
 exemplary service of individuals, groups, and organizations that
 have made significant contributions to Texas communities; this
 year's recipients are being honored in April during a reception
 hosted by First Lady Cecilia Abbott at the Texas Governor's
 Mansion; and
 WHEREAS, The members of the Midland High School football team
 are being recognized for generously donating their time and talents
 to support numerous community service projects; their achievements
 have included partnering with Keep Midland Beautiful to clean up
 trash in the community, conducting the Books and Bulldogs summer
 reading program with the Midland YMCA, and collecting school
 supplies for donation to the Boys & Girls Clubs; and
 WHEREAS, These dedicated student-athletes are guided by head
 coach Thad Fortune, who has made service leadership volunteer
 projects an integral part of the Bulldog football program; the
 initiative encompasses both junior high and high school athletes,
 and includes more than 600 students in grades 7 through 12; and
 WHEREAS, The members of the Midland High School football team
 have greatly contributed to their community and set an example of
 good citizenship to which others may aspire, and they are indeed
 deserving of this prestigious honor; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the 88th Legislature of the State of Texas
 hereby congratulate the Midland High School football team on
 receiving the Innovation in Volunteerism Award as part of the 39th
 annual Governor's Volunteer Awards and extend to all those
 associated with the team sincere best wishes for the future; and, be
 it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives and Senate.
