56 WHEREAS, Countless lives were touched by the kindness and
67 generosity of Patricia Martin of Parker County, who passed away on
78 December 10, 2022, at the age of 75; and
89 WHEREAS, Pat Martin was born to Fred and Bernice Rutledge on
910 October 29, 1947, in Rotan and grew up with the companionship of
1011 three siblings, Karen, James, and Lynne; she moved with her family
1112 to Brock, where they lived for a few years before settling in
1213 Weatherford; a graduate of Weatherford College, she embarked on a
1314 career in land title insurance in 1974 and continued working in the
1415 industry for many years while raising her son, Brandon, as a single
1516 mother; and
1617 WHEREAS, In 2011, she married Jimmy Martin, and together they
1718 created a blended family that included her stepchildren, Tracie,
1819 Tory, and Annabeth; a doting grandmother, Mrs. Martin treasured
1920 spending time with her 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren;
2021 and
2122 WHEREAS, Active in her community, Mrs. Martin held
2223 leadership roles with the Parker County Committee on Aging, the
2324 Weatherford Chamber of Commerce, and the Weatherford Independent
2425 School District Education Foundation, and she served on the Park
2526 View Terrace Housing Facility Board for a number of years;
2627 moreover, she was a founding member of the Parker County Health
2728 Foundation and was involved with the Weatherford Lions Club and
2829 Meals on Wheels; sustained by a deep and abiding faith, she was a
2930 valued congregant of Willow Park Baptist Church; and
3031 WHEREAS, Known for her strength of character, her
3132 unconditional love, and her contagious laugh, Pat Martin brightened
3233 the world for all who knew her, and they will forever hold her close
3334 in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
3435 RESOLVED, That the 88th Legislature of the State of Texas
3536 hereby pay tribute to the life of Patricia Martin and extend sincere
3637 condolences to all who mourn her passing; and, be it further
3738 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3839 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
3940 Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of
4041 Pat Martin.
