9 | 9 | BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 1(g), Article VIII, Texas Constitution, | |
11 | 11 | is amended to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | (g) The Legislature by general law may exempt from ad | |
13 | 13 | valorem taxation tangible personal property that is held or used | |
14 | 14 | for the production of income and that has a taxable value of less | |
15 | 15 | than an amount specified [the minimum amount sufficient to recover | |
16 | 16 | the costs of the administration of the taxes on the property, as | |
17 | 17 | determined] by the Legislature in [or under] the general law | |
18 | 18 | granting the exemption. | |
19 | 19 | SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be | |
20 | 20 | submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 7, 2023. | |
21 | 21 | The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the | |
22 | 22 | proposition: "The constitutional amendment authorizing the | |
23 | 23 | legislature to exempt from ad valorem taxation income-producing | |
24 | 24 | tangible personal property having a value of less than a certain | |
25 | 25 | amount." |
