99 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 65(a), Article XVI, Texas Constitution,
1111 is amended to read as follows:
1212 (a) This section applies to the following offices serving
1313 counties with a population of 100,000 or more according to the most
1414 recent federal decennial census: District Clerks; County Clerks;
1515 County Judges; Judges of the County Courts at Law, County Criminal
1616 Courts, County Probate Courts and County Domestic Relations Courts;
1717 County Treasurers; Criminal District Attorneys; County Surveyors;
1818 County Commissioners; Justices of the Peace; Sheriffs; Assessors
1919 and Collectors of Taxes; District Attorneys; County Attorneys;
2020 Public Weighers; and Constables.
2121 SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be
2222 submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 7, 2023.
2323 The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the
2424 proposition: "The constitutional amendment to allow an officer of a
2525 county with a population of less than 100,000 to become a candidate
2626 for another office without automatically resigning from the
2727 currently held office."
