55 WHEREAS, Members of the Student Advocates for Speech club in
66 Euless are gathering in Austin on April 11, 2023, to take part in
77 Students Engaged in Advancing Texas Day at the State Capitol; and
88 WHEREAS, An affiliate of the National Coalition Against
99 Censorship, the SAS chapter in Euless includes students from
1010 Trinity High School and Harmony Science Academy; the group strives
1111 to empower youth leaders to advocate for policies that promote
1212 freedom of expression and speech; and
1313 WHEREAS, The SAS Euless chapter's many efforts include
1414 campaigning on social media, organizing educational field trips,
1515 and hosting discussions on topics related to free expression; the
1616 group is ably led by chapter president Da'Taeveyon Daniels, a
1717 student at Trinity High School; and
1818 WHEREAS, The members of Student Advocates for Speech have set
1919 an inspiring example of civic engagement and activism, and these
2020 outstanding young Texans are truly deserving of special
2121 recognition; now, therefore, be it
2222 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
2323 Legislature hereby recognize the Student Advocates for Speech club
2424 in Euless on the occasion of Students Engaged in Advancing Texas Day
2525 at the State Capitol on April 11, 2023, and extend to all those
2626 associated with the club sincere best wishes for a meaningful and
2727 memorable visit to Austin; and, be it further
2828 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2929 prepared for Student Advocates for Speech in Euless as an
3030 expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
