| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Christian Community Action (CCA) in Denton County is |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | marking the 50th anniversary of its founding in 2023; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, Started as a small Bible study in 1973, CCA has since |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | grown into a nonprofit organization with 30 employees and more than |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | 5,500 volunteers; the group assists area residents facing poverty |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | and homelessness, with the ultimate goal of helping local families |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | to thrive; in its important work, the organization is guided by the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | principles of excellence, dignity, servant spirit, trust, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | diversity, and integrity; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, CCA offers a wide variety of services, including a |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | food pantry, financial assistance, seasonal programs, assistance |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | for seniors, and education and empowerment; in 2022, the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | organization provided more than two million healthy meals, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | contributed nearly $1.5 million toward preventing and ending |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | homelessness, and gave Christmas gifts to over 1,500 children; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, For half a century, Christian Community Action has |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | played a vital role in the North Texas community, and the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | organization is indeed deserving of recognition on this important |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | milestone in its history; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature hereby commemorate the 50th anniversary of Christian |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Community Action and extend to all those associated with the |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | organization sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
