44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Texas Counseling Association Advocacy Day is taking
66 place on April 11, 2023; and
77 WHEREAS, Professional counselors make up the largest group of
88 mental health providers in Texas, with more than 13,000 Certified
99 School Counselors and 34,000 Licensed Professional Counselors and
1010 LPC Associates; the work of professional counselors is often unseen
1111 and under-recognized; and
1212 WHEREAS, Professional school counselors play a critical role
1313 in campus safety as well as in students' mental health and academic
1414 success; through the delivery of comprehensive school counseling
1515 programs, school counselors help students address their social,
1616 emotional, and academic needs to ensure that they are successful
1717 both in school and in achieving their goals; and
1818 WHEREAS, Texas Counseling Association Advocacy Day provides
1919 a fitting opportunity to consider strategies to help make the
2020 state's schools and communities safer and improve the quality of
2121 life for Texas residents, and all professional counselors in the
2222 state are indeed deserving of special recognition for their efforts
2323 to advance these vital goals; now, therefore, be it
2424 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
2525 Legislature hereby commemorate Texas Counseling Association
2626 Advocacy Day and extend to all those associated with the
2727 organization sincere best wishes for continued success in their
2828 important work; and, be it further
2929 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3030 prepared for the Texas Counseling Association as an expression of
3131 high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
