| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Texas Counseling Association Advocacy Day is taking |

| 6 | 6 | | place on April 11, 2023; and |

| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, Professional counselors make up the largest group of |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | mental health providers in Texas, with more than 13,000 Certified |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | School Counselors and 34,000 Licensed Professional Counselors and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | LPC Associates; the work of professional counselors is often unseen |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | and under-recognized; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Professional school counselors play a critical role |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | in campus safety as well as in students' mental health and academic |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | success; through the delivery of comprehensive school counseling |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | programs, school counselors help students address their social, |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | emotional, and academic needs to ensure that they are successful |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | both in school and in achieving their goals; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Texas Counseling Association Advocacy Day provides |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | a fitting opportunity to consider strategies to help make the |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | state's schools and communities safer and improve the quality of |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | life for Texas residents, and all professional counselors in the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | state are indeed deserving of special recognition for their efforts |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | to advance these vital goals; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature hereby commemorate Texas Counseling Association |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Advocacy Day and extend to all those associated with the |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | organization sincere best wishes for continued success in their |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | important work; and, be it further |

| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |

| 30 | 30 | | prepared for the Texas Counseling Association as an expression of |
