5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Memories of a life well lived remain to comfort the |

6 | 6 | | family and friends of Stanley James Briers, who passed away on |
---|
7 | 7 | | October 10, 2022; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The son of Harry and Mary Briers, Stanley Briers was |
---|
9 | 9 | | born in 1936 in Houston and grew up alongside his six siblings; he |
---|
10 | 10 | | graduated from Saint Stanislaus in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, in |
---|
11 | 11 | | 1955 and continued his education at Tulane University and the |
---|
12 | 12 | | University of Houston; after serving in the U.S. Army for two years, |
---|
13 | 13 | | he returned to Houston and established a successful air |
---|
14 | 14 | | conditioning, electrical, and plumbing company; and |
---|
15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Active in his professional community, Mr. Briers |
---|
16 | 16 | | held leadership roles with a number of trade associations, |
---|
17 | 17 | | including the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners, the |
---|
18 | 18 | | Construction Industry Council, and the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling |
---|
19 | 19 | | Contractors Association; he also served his fellow citizens as a |
---|
20 | 20 | | precinct chair and election judge and as a member of the Knights of |
---|
21 | 21 | | Columbus and the American Legion; and |
---|
22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Valuing family above all else, Mr. Briers shared a |
---|
23 | 23 | | rewarding marriage with his wife, Carrolyn, that spanned more than |
---|
24 | 24 | | three decades, and he took great pride in his children, Dorothy, |
---|
25 | 25 | | Latane, Tipton, Harry, Kimberly, Kelly, Tammy, and Brandon; with |
---|
26 | 26 | | the passing years, he had the privilege of seeing his family grow to |
---|
27 | 27 | | include 17 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; in his leisure |
---|
28 | 28 | | time, he enjoyed hunting and racing cars and boats, and he was a |
---|
29 | 29 | | licensed pilot; and |
---|
30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Admired for his devotion to his family, his |
---|
31 | 31 | | generosity of spirit, and his joyous zest for life, Stanley Briers |
---|
32 | 32 | | enriched the lives of all who knew him, and they will forever hold |
---|
33 | 33 | | him close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
---|
34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
---|
35 | 35 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Stanley James |
---|
36 | 36 | | Briers and extend sincere condolences to his loved ones; and, be it |

38 | 38 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
