 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The City of Edinburg celebrated Grupo Frontera Day
 on February 16, 2023, to honor the acclaimed band for its myriad
 accomplishments; and
 WHEREAS, Formed in Edinburg in February 2022, Grupo Frontera
 has quickly gained fans around the globe with its distinctive blend
 of norteño and cumbia; the group consists of six friends, singer
 Adelaido "Payo" Solis III, percussionist Julián Peña Jr., drummer
 Carlos Frontera, guitarist Alberto "Beto" Acosta, bassist Carlos
 Zamora, and accordionist and singer Juan Javier Cantú; their lyrics
 of love and heartbreak combined with contagious rhythms have earned
 them hits in Texas and Mexico and throughout Latin America; and
 WHEREAS, In May 2022, the group released a version of "No se
 va," a song by the Latin pop band Morat that Grupo Frontera adapted
 to a cumbia style; the song has found a global reach, garnering 20
 million listens a month on Spotify, and its music video has more
 than 150 million views on YouTube, making it one of the most watched
 in the world; "No se va" reached new audiences when a clip of a man
 from Chihuahua, Mexico, dancing to the song went viral, and fans
 began posting their own versions of the dance on TikTok; and
 WHEREAS, Within their first year of releasing music, Grupo
 Frontera scored two other chart-topping hits, the Carin Leon
 collaboration "Que Vuelvas" and the Fuerza Regida collaboration
 "Bebe Dame," which the band performed at the 35th annual Premio Lo
 Nuestro awards show in Miami, Florida; and
 WHEREAS, With their meteoric rise, the members of Grupo
 Frontera have dazzled audiences in Texas and beyond, and they are
 indeed deserving of this notable honor; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Grupo Frontera on its recognition
 by the City of Edinburg and extend to the group's members sincere
 best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Grupo Frontera as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
