44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Christ Episcopal School in Nacogdoches is marking
66 the 75th anniversary of its founding in 2023; and
77 WHEREAS, The school traces its origins back to 1948, when the
88 Reverend Scott Field Baily, then the rector of Christ Episcopal
99 Church, established Christ Episcopal Day School; the first
1010 Protestant private school in Nacogdoches, the institution only had
1111 a kindergarten program when it first opened, with a prekindergarten
1212 program and first-grade class added soon after; initially
1313 accredited in 1973, the school operates within the Episcopal
1414 Diocese of Texas; and
1515 WHEREAS, Under the leadership of the head of school,
1616 Catherine Fenci Oliver, Christ Episcopal School currently provides
1717 a comprehensive Christian education to three-year-olds through
1818 fifth-graders; the modern campus features a separate preschool
1919 building as well as a library, a computer lab, art and music rooms,
2020 a multi-purpose room, and administrative offices; and
2121 WHEREAS, For three-quarters of a century, the faculty and
2222 staff of Christ Episcopal School have dedicated themselves to
2323 meeting the educational needs of their students, and the school has
2424 played a vital role in helping many young Texans build a bright and
2525 fulfilling future; now, therefore, be it
2626 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
2727 Legislature hereby commemorate the 75th anniversary of Christ
2828 Episcopal School and extend to all those associated with the school
2929 sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
3030 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3131 prepared for Christ Episcopal School as an expression of high
3232 regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
