 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Life School, a nonprofit network of tuition-free,
 public charter schools in the Dallas area, is marking the 25th
 anniversary of its founding in 2023; and
 WHEREAS, With the goal of providing students with a quality
 education and giving parents educational choice regardless of their
 ability to pay, pastor Tom Wilson applied for a charter for the
 school with the State of Texas in the spring of 1998; on August 12
 of that year, Life School opened its first campus in Oak Cliff with
 15 staff members and 266 students; in the decades since, the
 district has grown significantly, and today Life School operates 10
 schools in Carrollton, Cedar Hill, Lancaster, Mountain Creek, Oak
 Cliff, Red Oak, and Waxahachie, serving more than 5,600
 kindergarten through 12th-grade students and employing over 600
 faculty and staff members; and
 WHEREAS, Under the able leadership of superintendent
 Dr. Brent Wilson, Life School offers a wide range of
 extracurricular activities and athletics, as well as Career and
 Technical Education programs and dual credit partnerships with
 local community colleges; in 2022, the district earned seven campus
 distinctions, including a distinction for Postsecondary Readiness
 at its flagship campus in Oak Cliff; moreover, Life School has
 implemented a number of innovative initiatives, such as moving
 toward a four-day school week beginning in August 2023; and
 WHEREAS, For nearly three decades, Life School has sought to
 develop future leaders through strong academics, character
 training, and partnerships with parents and the community, and it
 has made a meaningful difference in the lives of countless young
 Texans; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
 Legislature hereby commemorate the 25th anniversary of Life School
 and extend to its administrators, faculty, staff, and students
 sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Life School as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
