| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The boys' and girls' soccer teams from Lamar High |

|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Both squads clinched their titles on March 10 at |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Butler Stadium in Houston, delivering outstanding performances |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | against District 18-6A rival Bellaire High School; after trailing |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | 1-0 early in the boys' match, the Texans evened the score by |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | halftime and seized a 2-1 lead in the 59th minute with a corner |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | kick; Lamar ultimately emerged triumphant by the final score of |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | 3-1, claiming its third consecutive league crown; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Needing only a tie against Bellaire to secure a |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | first-place district finish, the Lamar girls capitalized on a |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | direct kick in the 67th minute to produce a 1-0 victory; with the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | win, the team claimed its first league championship since 2013; and |

| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Throughout the course of the regular season, both |

| 20 | 20 | | Lamar teams received valuable contributions from each member of |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | their rosters; these determined student-athletes benefit from the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | able leadership of boys' head coach Jeremy Davison and girls' head |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | coach Guy Nell; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, The Lamar High School soccer teams have demonstrated |

| 25 | 25 | | exemplary dedication and an unwavering commitment to excellence, |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | and they are a source of tremendous pride for their fellow students |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | and their many supporters in the community; now, therefore, be it |

| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 29 | 29 | | Legislature hereby congratulate the Lamar High School boys' and |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | girls' soccer teams on winning district championships in 2023 and |

| 31 | 31 | | extend to the players, coaches, and staff sincere best wishes for |
