| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Granbury Regional Airport has received the 2023 Most |

| 6 | 6 | | Improved Airport award from the Texas Department of Transportation |

| 7 | 7 | | Aviation Division; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Known as the "Friendliest Little Airport in Texas," |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Granbury Regional Airport is a city-owned facility located near the |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | central business district of Granbury; it previously had the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | shortest runway among similar airports in the area, which limited |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | its ability to accommodate increasing rates of tourism to the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | community; to help solve this problem, the airport secured |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | approximately $32 million in funding from TxDOT and the City of |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Granbury and broke ground on a major project to add a longer runway; |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, The undertaking involved land acquisition, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | transmission line relocation, and an environmental assessment, |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | among other extensive planning efforts; after three phases of |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | construction, the project was officially completed in November |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | 2022, and the airport today features a runway spanning 5,200 feet in |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | length and 75 feet in width, as well as a full-length parallel |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | taxiway, a terminal apron spanning 8,000 square yards, LED runway |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | edge lighting, precision approach path indicators, and an airfield |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | electrical vault; in addition, the former runway was converted to a |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | taxiway; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Granbury Regional Airport plays an important role in |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | the transportation system of the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and this |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | award is a fitting acknowledgment of the facility's most recent |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | accomplishments; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Granbury Regional Airport on |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | receiving the 2023 Most Improved Airport award from the Texas |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | Department of Transportation Aviation Division and extend to all |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | those associated with the facility sincere best wishes for the |
