| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Captain Colin Sullivan is retiring from the Flower |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Mound Police Department on April 14, 2023, drawing to a close an |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | outstanding career with the agency that has spanned 28 years; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, After serving as a probation officer with the Denton |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | County Probation Department for several years, Colin Sullivan |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | joined the Flower Mound Police Department in 1995, and he was |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | promoted to sergeant in 2000; he went on to become captain in 2016, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | and three years later, he was assigned to the Criminal |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Investigations Division; over the course of his tenure with the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | agency, he has served in a variety of capacities, including as a |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | patrol officer, detective, supervisor, district attorney liaison, |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | SWAT team member, and narcotics officer; he has also played an |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | instrumental role in establishing professional standards, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | providing field training, and fostering community relations; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Among his many achievements, Captain Sullivan has |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | received a number of Supervisor of the Year awards, a Community |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Service Award, a Police Commendation Award, and a Life Saving |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Award; he holds a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | University of North Texas, and he is a licensed master peace officer |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | and a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement instructor; in addition, |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | he is a graduate of the Bill Blackwood Law Enforcement Management |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Institute of Texas Leadership Command College; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Colin Sullivan has greatly benefited the citizens of |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Flower Mound through his skill, professionalism, and commitment to |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | public safety, and he may indeed reflect with pride on his |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | contributions as he embarks on the next exciting chapter of his |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | life; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Captain Colin Sullivan on his |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | retirement from the Flower Mound Police Department and extend to |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
