No. 1104 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Kecia Mays is concluding her service to the Arlington Independent School District Board of Trustees on May 18, 2023; and WHEREAS, Since first joining the board in 2014, Mrs. Mays has represented Place 7, and she served as president of the board from 2019 to 2022; in addition, she has given generously of her time and talents to several local parent-teacher associations, and she was a field service representative for the Texas PTA; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Mays is a graduate of Texas A&M University, and she worked for the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts for more than three decades; beginning as a tax auditor, she became a reviewer and trainer at the Euless Processing Center and was later a tax auditor supervisor for the Fort Worth Audit Office; she specialized in refunds and was a telecommunication subject matter expert; and WHEREAS, Deeply dedicated to her community, Mrs. Mays has served as a board member for the Dream Weaver Foundation, the Texas A&M University Black Former Student Network, and the Arlington ISD Education Foundation, and she is currently on the boards for the Arlington Life Shelter, Dental Health Arlington, United Way of Tarrant County, Water from the Rock at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, and the Travel & Sports Legacy Foundation; her numerous accolades include the Texas PTA Extended Service Award and the Arlington Black Chamber of Commerce Community Award; and WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, Mrs. Mays enjoys the love and support of a fine family that includes her husband of 26 years, Robie, and their three sons, Robie, Solomon, and Malcolm; and WHEREAS, Through her hard work, professionalism, and commitment to excellence, Kecia Mays has greatly benefited the students of Arlington ISD and earned the respect and admiration of her fellow trustees, and her contributions will resonate in the community for years to come; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas Legislature hereby honor Kecia Mays for her service on the Arlington Independent School District Board of Trustees and extend to her sincere best wishes the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mrs. Mays as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
