| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Kecia Mays is concluding her service to the |

| 6 | 6 | | Arlington Independent School District Board of Trustees on May 18, |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | 2023; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Since first joining the board in 2014, Mrs. Mays has |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | represented Place 7, and she served as president of the board from |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | 2019 to 2022; in addition, she has given generously of her time and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | talents to several local parent-teacher associations, and she was a |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | field service representative for the Texas PTA; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Mays is a graduate of Texas A&M University, and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | she worked for the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts for more |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | than three decades; beginning as a tax auditor, she became a |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | reviewer and trainer at the Euless Processing Center and was later a |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | tax auditor supervisor for the Fort Worth Audit Office; she |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | specialized in refunds and was a telecommunication subject matter |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | expert; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Deeply dedicated to her community, Mrs. Mays has |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | served as a board member for the Dream Weaver Foundation, the Texas |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | A&M University Black Former Student Network, and the Arlington ISD |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Education Foundation, and she is currently on the boards for the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Arlington Life Shelter, Dental Health Arlington, United Way of |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Tarrant County, Water from the Rock at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | the Travel & Sports Legacy Foundation; her numerous accolades |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | include the Texas PTA Extended Service Award and the Arlington |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Black Chamber of Commerce Community Award; and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, Mrs. Mays enjoys the love and |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | support of a fine family that includes her husband of 26 years, |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Robie, and their three sons, Robie, Solomon, and Malcolm; and |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | WHEREAS, Through her hard work, professionalism, and |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | commitment to excellence, Kecia Mays has greatly benefited the |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | students of Arlington ISD and earned the respect and admiration of |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | her fellow trustees, and her contributions will resonate in the |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | community for years to come; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | Legislature hereby honor Kecia Mays for her service on the |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | Arlington Independent School District Board of Trustees and extend |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | to her sincere best wishes the future; and, be it further |
