 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Memories of a life well lived remain to comfort the
 family and friends of Miguel V. Rodriguez of Eagle Pass, who passed
 away on February 2, 2023, at the age of 82; and
 WHEREAS, Born on October 12, 1940, to Evaristo and Anita
 Rodriguez, Miguel Rodriguez grew up with the companionship of four
 siblings, Carlos, Amparo, Evaristo, and Anna; he began working to
 support his family at a young age, and he was later employed as a
 seasonal migrant forklift driver for Del Monte Foods in California;
 and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Rodriguez enjoyed an impressive career as a
 trainer and manager of local boxers; some of his notable trainees
 included El Chamaco Cuenca, El Veneno, Chibuya, El Martillo, and
 Lalo Capetillo; known by the nickname "El Tigre," he served as a
 promoter of professional boxing in Piedras Negras, Coahuila,
 Mexico, throughout the 1970s and 1980s and earned a reputation as a
 savvy businessman as he elevated the popularity of the sport in the
 region; and
 WHEREAS, The boxers that Mr. Rodriguez trained and managed
 went on to appear in international boxing competitions and multiple
 bouts in Las Vegas, and he notably discovered Mike "El Cyclon" Ayala
 and represented him at the first world title fight in San Antonio in
 1979; he was also a supporter of Golden Gloves amateur boxing, and
 he took pride in seeing his son, the late Miguel A. Rodriguez, win
 the Golden Gloves state championship by knockout at age 17; and
 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Rodriguez enjoyed the love
 and support of his wife, Enriqueta Rodriguez, with whom he shared
 five decades; in addition to his son Miguel, he was devoted to his
 three other children, Claudia, Jesus, and Nilda, and he was further
 blessed with six grandchildren, Samantha, Illeana, Miguel, Jacob,
 Jacqueline, and Carolinita; and
 WHEREAS, Although he will be greatly missed, Miguel Rodriguez
 leaves behind a legacy that will long be treasured by all those who
 were fortunate enough to know him; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Miguel V. Rodriguez
 and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his
 children, Dr. Claudia R. Wright and her husband, Jacob, Dr. Jesus
 Roberto Rodriguez and his wife, Carolina, and Nilda I. Rueda and her
 husband, Rogelio; to his grandchildren, Samantha, Illeana, and
 Miguel Rodriguez, Jacob and Jacqueline Wright, and Carolinita
 Rodriguez; to Alejandra and Rogelio Rueda; and to his other
 relatives and friends; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Miguel
 Rodriguez.
