| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Eduardo Treviño of Humble won first place in the |

| 6 | 6 | | elementary/middle school category at the 28th Annual Mariachi |

| 7 | 7 | | Extravaganza National Vocal Competition held in San Antonio in |

| 8 | 8 | | November 2022; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The Mariachi Extravaganza each year attracts more |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | than 800 talented musicians, vocalists, and composers from across |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | the country; one of the largest and longest-running events of its |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | kind, it hosts songwriting and group contests in addition to the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | National Mariachi Vocal Competition; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, A fifth grader at Autumn Creek Elementary, Eduardo |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Treviño matched up against seven other finalists in his division at |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | the San Antonio contest; he took home first place after dazzling the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | judges and the audience with his incredible vocal performance, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | which included challenging falsetto passages; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Hailing from a long line of musicians, Eduardo has |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | displayed a natural ability since early childhood; he started |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | singing when he was two years old and learned to play the guitar |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | during the COVID-19 pandemic; he won first place overall in the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | local OTI Kids vocal competition sponsored by AMABI Academia de |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Música y Canto in 2022, and he won the Lake Houston's Got Talent |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | show in 2021; in the summer of 2022, he attended the University of |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Houston Summer Mariachi Intensive; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Eduardo is very active in the choir at San Leo Magno |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Catholic Church in Houston, and he also performs at many community |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | events, including the Disciples of God's Son Best Christmas Ever |

| 30 | 30 | | benefit; in all his endeavors, he is supported by his parents, Jose |

| 31 | 31 | | and Rosalia Treviño, and his brothers, Aylen and Vicente; and |

| 32 | 32 | | WHEREAS, With a rich history of music in his family, Eduardo |

| 33 | 33 | | Treviño hopes to keep the tradition alive in the Humble Independent |

| 34 | 34 | | School District, and his dedication is opening the way to a future |

| 35 | 35 | | bright with promise; now, therefore, be it |

| 36 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
