44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Family and friends suffered an immeasurable loss
66 with the tragic passing of Ramon Najera Jr. of San Antonio on
77 February 24, 2023, at the age of 81; and
88 WHEREAS, The son of Raymond Najera and Genevieve Mora Najera,
99 Ramon Najera was born in San Antonio on December 9, 1941; he grew up
1010 with the companionship of nine siblings, Patsy, Anita, Mary,
1111 Catherine, Gilbert, Rachel, Sylvia, Adam, and Roland; and
1212 WHEREAS, Answering his nation's call to duty, Mr. Najera
1313 joined the U.S. Air Force, and he served in numerous locations
1414 across the U.S. and around the world; after 21 years of
1515 distinguished service, he retired at the rank of master sergeant;
1616 he went on to work in civil service, and he later embarked on a
1717 career as a security guard; and
1818 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Najera benefited from the
1919 love and support of his wife, Janie, with whom he shared a rewarding
2020 marriage that spanned four and a half decades; he took great pride
2121 in his children, Raymond, Sylvia, Richard, and Ramon, and
2222 stepchildren, Carlos, Anna, and Olga, and over the years, he had the
2323 pleasure of welcoming into his family 19 grandchildren and 14
2424 great-grandchildren; and
2525 WHEREAS, During his leisure time, Mr. Najera enjoyed dancing
2626 to Tejano music, collecting art, traveling, and spending time with
2727 loved ones; he also spent many hours maintaining his house and yard,
2828 and he received a beautification award from the City of Leon Valley
2929 for his attractive landscape gardening; and
3030 WHEREAS, Admired for his devotion to his family, his strong
3131 work ethic, and his kind and generous nature, Ramon Najera greatly
3232 enriched the lives of those around him, and he will forever hold a
3333 treasured place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
3434 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
3535 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Ramon Najera Jr. and
3636 extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife,
3737 Juanita Najera; to his children, Raymond Anthony Najera, Sylvia
3838 Marie Martinez and her husband, Roger, Richard Gilbert Najera and
3939 his wife, Diana, and Ramon Marcos Najera; to his stepchildren,
4040 Carlos Gomez Jr. and his wife, Yolanda, Anna Marie Alfaro and her
4141 husband, Robert, and Olga Lydia Gomez; to his 19 grandchildren and
4242 14 great-grandchildren; to his mother, Genevieve Najera; to his
4343 sisters, Rachel Gomez and Sylvia Gonzales; to his brothers, Adam
4444 Najera and Roland Najera; and to his other relatives and many
4545 friends; and, be it further
4646 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4747 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
4848 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Ramon
4949 Najera.
