5	5	WHEREAS, Family and friends suffered an immeasurable loss
6	6	with the tragic passing of Ramon Najera Jr. of San Antonio on
7	7	February 24, 2023, at the age of 81; and
8	8	WHEREAS, The son of Raymond Najera and Genevieve Mora Najera,
9	9	Ramon Najera was born in San Antonio on December 9, 1941; he grew up
10	10	with the companionship of nine siblings, Patsy, Anita, Mary,
11	11	Catherine, Gilbert, Rachel, Sylvia, Adam, and Roland; and
12	12	WHEREAS, Answering his nation's call to duty, Mr. Najera
13	13	joined the U.S. Air Force, and he served in numerous locations
14	14	across the U.S. and around the world; after 21 years of
15	15	distinguished service, he retired at the rank of master sergeant;
16	16	he went on to work in civil service, and he later embarked on a
17	17	career as a security guard; and
18	18	WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Najera benefited from the
19	19	love and support of his wife, Janie, with whom he shared a rewarding
20	20	marriage that spanned four and a half decades; he took great pride
21	21	in his children, Raymond, Sylvia, Richard, and Ramon, and
22	22	stepchildren, Carlos, Anna, and Olga, and over the years, he had the
23	23	pleasure of welcoming into his family 19 grandchildren and 14
24	24	great-grandchildren; and
25	25	WHEREAS, During his leisure time, Mr. Najera enjoyed dancing
26	26	to Tejano music, collecting art, traveling, and spending time with
27	27	loved ones; he also spent many hours maintaining his house and yard,
28	28	and he received a beautification award from the City of Leon Valley
29	29	for his attractive landscape gardening; and
30	30	WHEREAS, Admired for his devotion to his family, his strong
31	31	work ethic, and his kind and generous nature, Ramon Najera greatly
32	32	enriched the lives of those around him, and he will forever hold a
33	33	treasured place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
34	34	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
35	35	Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Ramon Najera Jr. and
36	36	extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife,
37	37	Juanita Najera; to his children, Raymond Anthony Najera, Sylvia
38	38	Marie Martinez and her husband, Roger, Richard Gilbert Najera and
39	39	his wife, Diana, and Ramon Marcos Najera; to his stepchildren,
40	40	Carlos Gomez Jr. and his wife, Yolanda, Anna Marie Alfaro and her
41	41	husband, Robert, and Olga Lydia Gomez; to his 19 grandchildren and
42	42	14 great-grandchildren; to his mother, Genevieve Najera; to his
43	43	sisters, Rachel Gomez and Sylvia Gonzales; to his brothers, Adam
44	44	Najera and Roland Najera; and to his other relatives and many
45	45	friends; and, be it further
46	46	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
47	47	prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
48	48	Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Ramon
49	49	Najera.
