| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The XFL professional football league resumed play in |

| 6 | 6 | | 2023, and the city of Arlington and nearby areas are integral to its |

|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The new owners of the XFL, actor Dwayne Johnson, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Dany Garcia, and RedBird Capital Partners, purchased the league |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | after the COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of the 2020 |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | season; on July 25, 2022, they selected Arlington to serve as the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | location of the XFL headquarters; moreover, the Dallas-Fort Worth |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | area was chosen as a center of operations for all of the league's |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | franchises; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Since the opening of the 2023 season, the eight XFL |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | teams practice at local venues in North Texas during the week before |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | flying to games in the league's host cities; as a result of this |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | innovative "hub" arrangement, more than 400 players train and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | receive medical care in the area, and the Metroplex also serves as a |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | content creation center, giving teams and players an opportunity to |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | build personal brands and engage with fans through social media and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | in-person events; the facilities utilized by the league include |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Choctaw Stadium in Arlington as well as fields operated by the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Mansfield, Carroll, and Northwest Independent School Districts; |

| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Understanding Texans' deep love of football, the XFL |

| 27 | 27 | | has located three of its eight teams in the Lone Star State, and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | each benefits from the leadership of head coaches who have enjoyed |

| 29 | 29 | | notable success on the gridiron; the Arlington Renegades are led by |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Bob Stoops, the Houston Roughnecks are guided by Wade Phillips, and |

| 31 | 31 | | the San Antonio Brahmas are under the direction of Hines Ward; the |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | league is also earning well-deserved attention for the essential |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | role played by co-owner Dany Garcia, the first woman to own an equal |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | or majority ownership stake in a major professional sports league |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | in the United States; and |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | WHEREAS, The launch of this latest version of the XFL is an |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | exciting development for football fans across the country, and |

| 38 | 38 | | Arlington and the larger North Texas area provides an outstanding |

| 39 | 39 | | location for the league's players, coaches, and staff to live and |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | thrive; now, therefore, be it |

| 41 | 41 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 42 | 42 | | Legislature hereby congratulate the XFL football league on the |
|---|
| 43 | 43 | | opening of its headquarters in Arlington and extend to all those |

| 44 | 44 | | associated with the league sincere best wishes for the future; and, |
