|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The birthplace of such distinctive styles as Texas |

| 10 | 10 | | country and Tejano, the Lone Star State has produced culturally |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | significant artists in every musical genre; at the Recording |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Academy's 65th annual Grammy Awards and 23rd annual Latin Grammy |

| 13 | 13 | | Awards, Texas nominees and winners across multiple categories |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | included Beyoncé, Miranda Lambert, Lizzo, Cody Johnson, Willie |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Nelson, Maren Morris, Spoon, Black Pumas, Snarky Puppy, Tobe |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Nwigwe, Ray Benson and Asleep at the Wheel, Kirk Franklin, Gene |

| 17 | 17 | | Moore, Bobby Pulido, Grupo Alamo, Marcos Witt, and Isabel Sanchez, |

| 18 | 18 | | along with many who work behind the scenes, among them producers, |

| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, A number of Texas artists have been honored in |

| 21 | 21 | | recent years with the prestigious Recording Academy Lifetime |

| 22 | 22 | | Achievement Award, including Corpus Christi native Selena |

| 23 | 23 | | Quintanilla-Perez and Dallas/Fort Worth native DJ Spinderella as a |

| 24 | 24 | | member of Salt-N-Pepa; in addition, Texas can claim back-to-back |

| 25 | 25 | | recipients of the academy's Music Educator of the Year Award, 2023 |

| 26 | 26 | | honoree Pamela Dawson, director of choral music at DeSoto High |

| 27 | 27 | | School, and 2022 winner Stephen Cox, director of bands for Advanced |

| 28 | 28 | | Learning Academy and Fox Tech and CAST Tech High Schools in San |

| 29 | 29 | | Antonio; and |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Established in 1998, the Texas Chapter of the |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Recording Academy has excelled in its mission for a quarter |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | century; the organization is dedicated to advancing music |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | education, which enriches the lives of countless students, and |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | promoting an industry that generates tens of billions of dollars in |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | activity for the state; tied to an estimated 210,000-plus jobs, the |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | economic sector is also supported by the efforts of the Texas Music |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | Office, created by the Texas Legislature for that purpose; and |

| 38 | 38 | | WHEREAS, The music industry enhances the prosperity of the |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | Lone Star State and contributes significantly to the vibrancy of |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | American culture; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 42 | 42 | | Legislature hereby commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Texas |
|---|
| 43 | 43 | | Chapter of the Recording Academy and extend sincere best wishes to |

| 44 | 44 | | the members of the organization on the occasion of their visit to |
|---|
| 45 | 45 | | the State Capitol; and, be it further |
