| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The members of the West Baytown Civic Association |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | are celebrating the 35th anniversary of the organization's founding |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | in 2023; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Established in 1988, the West Baytown Civic |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Association seeks to foster community engagement and implement |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | positive change within Baytown's Historic West End, previously |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | known as Old Baytown; the organization has given back to the area |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | through a variety of civic projects and initiatives, ranging from |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | murals and neighborhood cleanups to support for bike patrols and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | increased police visibility; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, The WBCA has further contributed to its community by |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | helping to sponsor a number of events, including National Night Out |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | and the Day of the Dead Festival; moreover, the organization has |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | donated funds to local schools and assisted area families with |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | holiday donations; WBCA members benefit from the able leadership of |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | its board of directors, which includes president Fred Aguilar, vice |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | president Agustin Loredo III, secretary Eva Benavides, and Baytown |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | City Council member Laura Alvarado; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, The West Baytown Civic Association has long played |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | an important role in the vitality of the Baytown community, and the |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | organization is indeed worthy of recognition on this notable |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | milestone; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature hereby commemorate the 35th anniversary of the West |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Baytown Civic Association and extend to all those associated with |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | the organization sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it |
