44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the
66 passing of Paul Williams of Little River-Academy on April 4, 2023,
77 at the age of 61; and
88 WHEREAS, The son of Robert and Mildred Williams, Paul
99 Williams was born on June 27, 1961, and he was raised in Sargent by
1010 his grandmother and aunt; after graduating from Van Vleck High
1111 School, he earned a bachelor's degree in education from Tarleton
1212 State University, where he also played football and competed in the
1313 discus for the track and field team; and
1414 WHEREAS, Mr. Williams enjoyed a rewarding career in
1515 education that spanned three and a half decades; he taught English
1616 and coached football, powerlifting, and track at schools in
1717 Sweetwater, Gregory-Portland, Tuloso-Midway, Del Valle, Belton,
1818 Academy, and Troy; along the way, he served in the U.S. Army Reserve
1919 for 25 years before retiring at the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 3
2020 in 2018; his many military honors included the Afghanistan Campaign
2121 Medal with a Campaign Star, the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious
2222 Service Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal; and
2323 WHEREAS, Following his retirement, Mr. Williams served as a
2424 member of the Little River-Academy City Council, and he volunteered
2525 as a substitute teacher at the Holland Independent School District;
2626 he was also an active member of Little River United Methodist
2727 Church; and
2828 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Williams benefited from
2929 the love and support of his wife, Amanda, and he took great pride in
3030 his children and grandchildren; and
3131 WHEREAS, Deeply dedicated to his family, his faith, and his
3232 country, Paul Williams earned the lasting respect and admiration of
3333 all who were privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it
3434 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
3535 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Paul Williams and
3636 extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife,
3737 Amanda; to his children, Morgan and her husband, Jason, Kristin and
3838 her husband, Ryan, Ashley, Heath and his wife, Lizzie, Koby and his
3939 wife, Mariah, Kinsey and her husband, Preston, Joe, Jack, and
4040 Brooklyn; to his grandchildren, Caylee, Clair, Mabel, Ayden, Nova,
4141 Harleigh, Abrianna, Aniyah, Avontay, Alekai, Murphy, Malcolm, and
4242 Owen; to his mother, Mildred; to his brother, Dwayne, and his wife,
4343 Cindy; to his sister, Angela, and her husband, Sid; to his aunt,
4444 Georgiana, and her husband, Dave; and to his many other relatives
4545 and friends; and, be it further
4646 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4747 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
4848 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Paul
4949 Williams.
