5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the |

6 | 6 | | passing of Paul Williams of Little River-Academy on April 4, 2023, |

7 | 7 | | at the age of 61; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The son of Robert and Mildred Williams, Paul |
---|
9 | 9 | | Williams was born on June 27, 1961, and he was raised in Sargent by |
---|
10 | 10 | | his grandmother and aunt; after graduating from Van Vleck High |
---|
11 | 11 | | School, he earned a bachelor's degree in education from Tarleton |
---|
12 | 12 | | State University, where he also played football and competed in the |
---|
13 | 13 | | discus for the track and field team; and |
---|
14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Williams enjoyed a rewarding career in |
---|
15 | 15 | | education that spanned three and a half decades; he taught English |
---|
16 | 16 | | and coached football, powerlifting, and track at schools in |
---|
17 | 17 | | Sweetwater, Gregory-Portland, Tuloso-Midway, Del Valle, Belton, |
---|
18 | 18 | | Academy, and Troy; along the way, he served in the U.S. Army Reserve |
---|
19 | 19 | | for 25 years before retiring at the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 3 |
---|
20 | 20 | | in 2018; his many military honors included the Afghanistan Campaign |
---|
21 | 21 | | Medal with a Campaign Star, the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious |
---|
22 | 22 | | Service Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal; and |
---|
23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Following his retirement, Mr. Williams served as a |
---|
24 | 24 | | member of the Little River-Academy City Council, and he volunteered |
---|
25 | 25 | | as a substitute teacher at the Holland Independent School District; |
---|
26 | 26 | | he was also an active member of Little River United Methodist |
---|
27 | 27 | | Church; and |
---|
28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Williams benefited from |
---|
29 | 29 | | the love and support of his wife, Amanda, and he took great pride in |
---|
30 | 30 | | his children and grandchildren; and |
---|
31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, Deeply dedicated to his family, his faith, and his |
---|
32 | 32 | | country, Paul Williams earned the lasting respect and admiration of |
---|
33 | 33 | | all who were privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it |
---|
34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

35 | 35 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Paul Williams and |

36 | 36 | | extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, |
