55 WHEREAS, Michael Evanko Douglas of El Dorado High School in
66 the Socorro Independent School District has received the Lavis
77 Mentor Teacher Award from The University of Texas at El Paso College
88 of Education; and
99 WHEREAS, Each year, the Lavis Mentor Teacher Awards are
1010 presented to a select number of educators who have excelled in their
1111 duties and who have provided valuable guidance and support to UTEP
1212 teacher candidates; as a 2023 honoree, Mr. Douglas was awarded
1313 $2,500 and was celebrated at the annual College of Education
1414 Recognition Event on March 30; and
1515 WHEREAS, Public education is an endeavor in which all Texans
1616 have a stake, and through his tireless efforts, Michael Evanko
1717 Douglas is helping to further the professional development of the
1818 next generation of teachers in the Lone Star State; now, therefore,
1919 be it
2020 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
2121 Legislature hereby congratulate Michael Evanko Douglas on
2222 receiving the Lavis Mentor Teacher Award from The University of
2323 Texas at El Paso College of Education and extend to him sincere best
2424 wishes for the future; and, be it further
2525 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2626 prepared for Mr. Douglas as an expression of high regard by the
2727 Texas House of Representatives.
