55 WHEREAS, Stephanie Herrera of Horizon Heights Elementary
66 School in the Socorro Independent School District has received the
77 Lavis Mentor Teacher Award from The University of Texas at El Paso
88 College of Education; and
99 WHEREAS, Each year, the Lavis Mentor Teacher Awards are
1010 presented to a select number of educators who have excelled in their
1111 duties and who have provided valuable guidance and support to UTEP
1212 teacher candidates; as a 2023 honoree, Ms. Herrera was awarded
1313 $2,500 and was celebrated at the annual College of Education
1414 Recognition Event on March 30; and
1515 WHEREAS, Public education is an endeavor in which all Texans
1616 have a stake, and through her tireless efforts, Stephanie Herrera
1717 is helping to further the professional development of the next
1818 generation of teachers in the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it
1919 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
2020 Legislature hereby congratulate Stephanie Herrera on receiving the
2121 Lavis Mentor Teacher Award from The University of Texas at El Paso
2222 College of Education and extend to her sincere best wishes for the
2323 future; and, be it further
2424 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2525 prepared for Ms. Herrera as an expression of high regard by the
2626 Texas House of Representatives.
